“These are exciting times at Queensbury School. Caring staff, an ambitious curriculum and new buildings are all driving improvements for pupils. Leaders aim to help pupils 'unleash their limitless potential'. Staff, parents, carers and pupils are united in making this vision a reality.” (Ofsted Inspection May 2023)
It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Queensbury School, a special school for over 300 students aged 11 to 19 years of age split over two sites:
Queensbury is a “Good School” and was last inspected by Ofsted in May 2023. Click here for latest report.
We provide secondary education for students with specific special educational needs: SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition)and a small number of SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health). All students have an Education Health Care Plan or are in the process of receiving one.
Queensbury School is part of the Education Impact Academy Trust (EIAT) and joined on the 1st September 2020. Significant investment of over £10 million pounds has been invested into the school over the last few years from external grants. Establishing the right environment is key to the Queensbury School’s and EIAT’s vision to ensure our staff and students have learning environments for the 21st century to meet SEND needs.
We believe some students thrive in a smaller school setting. Small class sizes allow us really to know the students exceptionally well and provide the support they may require. Our high staff to student ratios allow for individual support in a specialist provision setting. Staff are highly skilled, receive regular training and really care about every young person. We provide that personalised approach that we know is so important to thrive for children, parents and families.
Students are at the heart of everything we do. Our school has five focused curriculums (learning pathways) to meet the needs of our amazing students and their differing needs: Discovery, Quest, Explorer, Venture and Navigator.
As needs change over time, we have the flexibility for students to move to a relevant pathway and excel.
Queensbury is a “Good School” as we believe all students have the potential to ‘unleash their limitless potential…’ they just need the right opportunity, right people and right environment.
If you are interested in your child attending our school, more information can be found on our Admissions Page or the Local Offer for Birmingham.
