Steve Hughes OBE (Former CEO of EIAT) now retired, won the ‘Lifetime Achievers Award’ at the Midlands Education Awards 2023 last night.

What an absolutely phenomenal night at Education Awards 23! Steve Waters FCCT and Suneta Bagri from Teach Well Toolkit, proud sponsors of this prestigious event. Both were truely honoured to be sponsoring both the Wellbeing Award and Lifetime Achievement Award!

“Couldn’t have been happier to present this award to Steve Hughes OBE, for all that he has achieved for children and young people with learning difficulties over the course of 47 years in Birmingham Special Schools and colleges”.

Chris Wilson – Executive Headteacher for Queensbury school was honoured to say a few words about Steve Hughes. Afterwards Chris said, “Steve is a local boy who was born in Erdington and has spent his life giving back to the community especially children with disabilities and additional needs. These are our most vulnerable in society and he has always given them a voice in the Midlands. It’s a very simple formulae …’Students always at the heart of every decision’ has made him the great leader we have been privileged to work with”.

Joined by our wonderful guests Catherine Hulme, Sandra Tibbles, Julie Fellows, Gareth Ivett, Nas Hussain, Terjinder Bagri.
