In Geography, Year 9 students visit Lapworth Museum of Geology.  Then they complete a work book trial of the Museum, look at different rocks, minerals and fossils and complete work individually and in groups in the classroom looking at ‘How the Earth was formed?’ Volcanoes, Earthquakes and ‘Constructive and Destructive plates.’

In Year’s 10 and 11 the students complete a ‘Physical’ and ‘Human’ fieldwork trip as part of their Geography coursework.

For the ‘Physical’ fieldwork they go to Carding Mill Valley and Long Mynd in Shropshire, part of the National Trust to complete a ‘River’ study collecting data and complete experiments on the shape, depth, width and speed of the river.

For the ‘Human’ fieldwork they have been to Birmingham City Centre and Selly Oak Retail Park, where they collect data on why people come to the areas? How do they travel there? They complete surveys of the buildings, pedestrian count, traffic count and a questionnaire with the public to see if the area has improved and what improvements could be made.
